Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that we have just got in some gorgeous new snooker scoreboards. We have a choice of 4 ranging from under £80 and up to over £400. They are all gorgeous so please come and have a look!

We have also just taken stock of some new BCE and Riley Snooker Cues so come and have a look at those if you get a chance.

On the snooker playing front it has been a while since I have had a game but i'm hoping to get a few frames in this week with my dad.

Hi folks.

Sorry its been a while since my last post but i have been busy moving house!

I haven't watched (or played) much snooker recently but i am hoping to get back into both very soon!

One thing i have done though is purchase myself a new snooker cue!!! Check it out

My brand new top of the range Peradon Cue it's a Peradon York and i got it from my fav snooker equipment store Pjn Sports.

Anyway enough plugging i'll be back soon with some more snooker gossip

Snooker Pro's VS Snooker Amateurs?

The newest tournament to be introduced into the snooker world is the Players Tour Championship. The idea is that amateur players can fight it out with some of the worlds best players for a £50,000 prize. There will be a total of 73 pros and 55 amateurs in this first edition which will take place in Sheffield.

WPBSA refers John Higgins investigation to independent body

Little bit of news about John Higgins.. The World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association (WPBSA) has now referred it to an independent body for investigation. For those of you that don't know - John was suspended from playing tournament snooker pending an investigation regarding match fixing by a leading newspaper. The newspaper has a video of John and his agent "allegedly" discussing throwing frames in exchange for a financial reward. John still insists he is 100% innocent and is determined to clear his name.

Hopefully this can get sorted out very soon.

The Cue Tip

Today i am going to follow on from my discussion on the snooker cue and talk a little bit about a very important part of the cue overall which is the Cue Tip.
The tip is quite possibly the most important part of the snooker or pool cue as is the only part that ever makes contact with the white ball. The tip is made of dense leather and is usually glued (although sometimes screwed) onto the end of the cue above the ferrule. The tip should be shaped into a dome structure using a piece of sandpaper or a specially designed file. The domed like shape will help the player impart more spin on the cue ball and should therefore help with positional play. Famously at he 2006 World Snooker Championship Ronnie O'Sullivan bit off his tip in frustration before losing the match to Graeme Dott and giving his cue to a member of the audience! Looking after your cue tip is very important. Try to keep it in good shape, keep shaping it into a nice dome and don't forget that chalk!

Choosing a snooker cue is a difficult decision and because a new cue should last many years it should be chosen wisely. The main differences between different snooker cues are the split, the weight, the length and the material type.
Today I am going to talk about the split:
One piece snooker cues are the traditionalists choice - they look really good and don't have a seam which means a smooth feathering action, however they can be a pain to transport because they can’t be shortened. Next we have the two piece snooker cue and as the name suggests this type of cue splits equally into two pieces. The Two piece snooker cue is probably the most common type of cue - there advantages are that they can be shortened easily and transported without taking up to much space, there disadvantages are mainly that there is a seam in the center of the cue which can disrupt the feathering action. The Three quarter jointed snooker cue is probably the snooker cue that most advanced and professional snooker players. These cues split around 6 inches from the base which means there are no issues with feathering and there is also possibility of adding a longer screw-in extension to the cue as well.
Other things to consider when buying a new snooker cue are the length, the weight and the type of wood the cue is made from. I will be talking a little bit about the other factors over the next week or so.

Hearn Takes Charge Of World Snooker

Barry Hearn has won a majority vote to take control of the World Snooker.
Hearn saw off competition from John Davison who was also in the running for the post and now takes control for the next 15 years.
Hearn has promised an increase in prize money to £4.5 million and hopes to turn snooker around in a similar way to which he did with darts
